~ An Hour With You~

In honor of my Dad, Rev. Lewis Lake (1910 -1997)
Who loved and served God as a faithful Pastor for 60
years.
I remember as I was growing up that my Dad would
answer the phone
and I would hear him say … What can I do to help
you?
His example taught me that if you truly loved God,
you would
also love people and seek to be of help and
encouragement.
What a wonderful legacy of love he left not only to
me but to us all!
I
thank the Lord for good old Dad
And what he meant to me
The great times and the bond we had
Still flood my memory
I think of things he said to me
Like “Seek The Father’s face”
Or “You can live eternally
because of saving grace”
He took an hour every day
To call upon the Lord
I saw God work as Dad would pray
Each answer was reward
He sacrificed at every turn
His will and his own plans
For in his heart a fire did burn
To follow God’s commands
He held the hands of dying folks
And helped each soul in need
The fearful he would gently coax
To trust God’s word indeed
I never heard him swear or cuss
Or take God’s name in vain
He brought out good in all of us
His words were clear and plain
He walked the walk and talked the talk
He modeled what was right
He leaned on Christ, The Solid Rock
He lifted up The Light
He blessed my life in every way
In all I’m thinking of
And though he’s gone, one thing will stay
His Legacy Of Love !!!
