As I was watching the sun rising
Across the colorful Eastern sky,
I wondered why we don't take more time
To enjoy precious moments as they are passing by.

There is so much beauty
That we just don't see,
God gives them to bring
Happiness to you and me.

There are so many moments
That we will never see again,
We pass up pleasure, opportunities,
Even challenges that we might win:

We don't see so many things that need to be done
We need to reach out to someone and say a kind word,
A warm greeting, encouragement, and say I love you,
These are important words that need to be heard.

We don't see the flowers nodding
In our hurry we just walk on by,
We didn't see the luscious oak tree
That stands so majestically, strong and high.

There is so much to see, and much we can do
Many opportunities have just gone past,
We may never see them again.
Moments like these don't always last.

The sun is setting
It has moved to the Western sky
The day is closing: it's almost gone
The chances we have been given
Has just passed us by.
